Stephen Bachmeier
Stephen comes from a divorced family with one young brother. He became a Christian in the fall of his freshman year at college in 2011 after experience the love of Christ through other students serving at “The Wesley at WT.” After several years of growing and youth ministry he felt this was not the direction the Lord was leading regarding ministry and sought a way to share the Gospel with others who have never heard or had a chance to hear. Instead of following many of his friends to Asbury Theological Seminary God lead him to Columbia International University where he graduated with a double Bachelors (Intercultural Studies and Bible) in 2018 and a Masters of TEFL in 2019. He did an internship for teaching in Kazakhstan in the summer of 2019 and realized rather quickly that support and structure is important. Upon his return and the COVID shut down he prayed consistently for God to show him the direction he could honor God the best. Through interactions at CIU God led Stephen to Christar. Through much prayer he realized he was being selfish in wanting to go back to Central Asia and upon laying his own desires down the doors continually closed regarding Central Asia and opened widely for Japan.
Stephen enjoys coffee, soccer (looking forward to watching the local professional team!), weight lifting, and traveling. He looks forward to exploring Japan, sharing Christ, and watching the Japanese culture be transformed more like Christ.
