John and Melanie McKinney

__ John was raised in Lincoln, Nebraska and received Christ at an evangelistic meeting when he was 23. Melanie grew up in southwest Virginia, where, as a child, she trusted in Christ at a Christian camp. While attending Appalachian Bible College in West Virginia, they were married and God burdened them for church planting in Japan.

After John received his Master of Divinity degree at Capital Bible Seminary, the McKinney’s served as missionaries in Japan from 2000 to 2003. Since then, John had the privilege of serving as a senior pastor in both Nebraska and Virginia. God has used these experiences to further equip John and Melanie for continued church-planting ministry in Japan.

They, along with their five children, believe God wants them to declare His glory, specifically among the least-reached Japanese people in Yamaguchi prefecture of southwestern Japan. Their passion is to see God establish churches in areas of Japan where no churches exist.
