Deniese Billings
Deniese prayed for God’s direction for many years after she lost her husband in 1991. The Lord provided a job for her at a U.S. Military base in Iwakuni for 11 years. While there she became friends with and helped Christar missionaries with the annual Christmas Ladies Luncheon. In 2010, two years after returning to the U.S, she was given the opportunity to go back to Japan and live in the home of one of the missionary couples on furlough. She taught English, and helped with various outreaches. During that time Deniese felt the Lord calling her back to Japan to serve Him.
Retiring early, she moved back to Japan in 2015 as an Emissary supporting the Shimobe Team. She teaches English in her home as a way to build friendships and share Truth with Japanese ladies. Bill and Pamela Noar of the Shimobe Team, offer Bible Studies for her English students or other contacts.
She also has a free English Chat during lunch at Tokuyama University. Rebecca, a team member, and Deniese host the students for dinner on Wednesday’s at Deniese’s home. They share their faith as they interact with the students and also do crafts and play games. They also take day trips to places of interest. Most of the students are from South East Asian countries.
Deniese enjoys Japanese culture, exploring western Japan and photography.
