Joy Snodgrass
Hajimemashite, or nice to meet you. My name is Joy Grace Snodgrass,
By the amazing grace and love of God, at the age of five, I joyfully (pun kinda intended) accepted Christ into my little heart. But it wasn’t until later in my teens that the reality—the true wonder--of the gospel began to truly take root inside. Through various trials, I experienced the love of Jesus anew as He showed my time and again just how kind and gentle a Shepherd He is. I can confidently say that if weren’t for Jesus, then I would not be alive today. He rescued me from darkness, and now “the love of Christ compels” me to share the good news of Jesus to those who have not yet heard of Him (2 Cor. 5:14).
The Lord placed in my heart a passion for Japan when I started studying the culture and language when I was was 18. I had the privilege to join the Christar team in Yamaguchi, Japan on a year long trip in 2015.
After that, God kept graciously bringing me back; I was able to come help out in the summers of 2018 and 2019 as well. After graduating from Belhaven University Onljne with a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies, the Lord opened a door for me to work at Christar’s US mobilization center as an office administrator for almost two years as prepared for and prayed about long-term ministry.
In 2023, the Good Shepherd provided my way to join the Christar team in Japan! I have the honor of being our field’s first market-place worker. While continuing to improve my Japanese language ability, I have been blessed with the opportunity to work part time in the office of a charter boat shipping company in the town of Kaminoseki.
I am so thankful to be able to live for my Lord here in this small rural town. Please join me in prayer that the light of Christ might touch and transform those in this area for His glory. He is good!
